The 100th Anniversary of the North Texas Geological Society will be celebrated by the Society hosting the 2023 SWS-AAPG meeting in Wichita Falls. The technical sessions will include a super Eastern Shelf Strawn session, Barnett Shale session, several papers on North Texas reservoirs and Scoop/Stack in Oklahoma and, of course, Permian papers. We will host a Southern Oklahoma field trip led by Dr. Molly Turko on Saturday the 6th while Dr. Jeff May will present a short course on Sunday May 7th titled “Sequence Stratigraphy Concepts and Practical Well-Log Applications”. The key-note speaker will be Dr. Kurt Rudolph, a former Exxon exploration manager who is an adjunct faculty member at Rice University. His address is titled “The Assembly of Pangea, a view from Laurentia – Paleozoic Orogenies and their Impact on Basin Evolution and Petroleum Systems” and will focus on North Texas, the Eastern Shelf, and the Permian Basin.
